Bill for UA vs. ASU Charity Game Fails in Arkansas House

Measure does not pass Committee on Rules.
LITTLE ROCK, AR - A committee of the Arkansas House has failed to pass a bill calling for a charity football game between the University of Arkansas and the Arkansas State University Red Wolves.

Rep. Andy Mayberry (R-Hensley) has been trying to push the measure toward a vote in the full House.

In testimony before the vote today, Mayberry told the committee that 25-thousand votes have been cast over the last four days on the website (click here) he created to determine public opinion on the idea.

Rep. John Vines (D-Hot Springs) asked Mayberry if the game would create a "slippery slope" leading to other schools like UAPB expressing interest in such a game. Mayberry answered no.
