JACKSONVILLE, AR - Saturday, competitive eaters in Jacksonville had ten minutes to down as many chicken wings as possible at the Wing Ding Festival.
The front-runner heading into the competition was Sonya Thomas, also known as "The Black Widow," because she out-eats men who out-weigh her.
Just last month, Thomas ate 181 wings in 12 minutes, beating her own world record at The United States Chicken Wing Eating Championship in Buffalo, New York.
Whether it's drinking lots of water or fasting, like Thomas, each competitor pushed forward.
"It's impressive that a woman that small beats all of these huge guys eating these crazy heavy foods," said Cory Ledoux.
"I love this. This is pretty funny right here," said Terry Kinne.
Little Rock's Chuck Stuart started his competitive eating career at last year's Wing Ding Festival and won.
"I like wings, but, you know, I wouldn't call myself, you know, just kind of like a normal person," says Stuart.
This year, he did not win.
"It was going good at first, but the last couple of minutes, I just started slowing down and got full. Started noticing the wings, the skin, it kind of just grosses me out a little bit," he says.
Stuart says somewhere mid-competition, the wings started messing with his head and despite skipping breakfast, he just couldn't pull off the repeat.
Thomas won $1500 by eating 4.59 pounds of wings in ten minutes.
