MULBERRY, Ark. (AP) — Authorities in northwestern Arkansas are investigating the discovery of a body inside a burned car.

Franklin County Sheriff Anthony Boen told KHOG-TV on Saturday the car was found on a road near a heavily wooded area in Mulberry.

Investigators said the car and the body inside were so badly burned they couldn't identify either. Authorities have obtained a partial vehicle identification number from the car.

Investigators say it appeared the car was stuck, and the engine may have overheated, but they're unsure whether the incident was a homicide or an accident.
