LITTLE ROCK, AR - Two Watson Elementary students are in trouble after authorities say they brought a gun to school. The 3rd and 5th graders are brothers.

Lt. Terry Hastings says the gun was taken out on the bus ride to school when a girl saw the gun. The boys reportedly told her not to say anything or they would hurt her.

The gun belongs to the boys' grandfather who is a Little Rock police officer, according to Lt. Hastings. The gun was his old service revolver that he bought when the police department bought new guns.

Lt. Hastings tells FOX16 that the boys had been at their grandfather's home and found the gun, though the gun had been stored in a safe place.

The 5th grader may face charges but his brother is too young to face charges.

I think it is kinda the parents/grandparents fault...It actually is all of their fault. He keeps a gun where I kid can get it? If I had kids, I'm sure I would keep my gun in the safe. A kid wouldn't be able to get to it.

blessed said "children no not to bring guns to school" "it was a act of stupidity" "its kills me" "and your may be the one" I guess instead of paying attention in school, you were to busy bringing UNLOADED guns to school. It matters nothing, that the guns were loaded or not, its the principle of them committing a felony.

FIRST LET ME CLEAR UP EVERYONE CONCERNS. THE GUN WAS NOT LOADED. YET THE CHILDREN NO NOT TO BRING GUNS TO SCHOOL IT WAS A ACT OF STUPIDITY.TO ALL YOU WHO HAVE SOMETHING STUPID TO SAY WALK A MILE IN THE PARENTS SHOES. SOMETIMES ITS NOT THE PARENTS. ITS KILLS ME WHEN YOU ALL HEAR SOMETHING ON THE NEWS ABOUT A SCHOOL IN THE HOOD AND START POINTING FINGERS AT THE MOM. IF YOU ALL HAVE CHILDREN PLEASE BELIEVE YOU WILL NOT KNOW THEIR EVERY MOVE. ALL KIDS ARE NOT SAINTS AND YOUR MAY BE THE ONE WHO JUST AINT GOT CAUGHT YET. SO PLEASE DONT COMMENT ON SOMETHING THAT YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT.

@backinaction, you're right, "they will soon get the picture." At the time they won't understand and it makes no sense to do that. BTW, the gun wasn't loaded, but that's besides the point. You probably were a bully in grade school and maybe still is, I'm sure of it by your response. It's horrible to bring a gun to school but really, they are kids. Punish them but don't ruin thier lives. It's the exact same as being mentally disaabled. They just don't know how wrong or right things are. Again, that's why kids have parents and are not alloweed to make their own decisions,"legally" because they are KIDS!!!

I think these kids need a good butt whooping. I think these kids are being raised by single mothers or parents who do not take time with their kids. My kid has been bullied in school...but he knows the best way is to talk first and defend himself if that doesnt work. We call it Knuckle-up. No weapons are involved because 2 lives will be forever lost. one dead and the other in prison. Take time and talk to your kids and raise them to become best people they can. Not always will they do the right thing, but they wont know right if you dont teach them. I am also glad nobody was harmed in this incident.

blessed, youre saying that these two kids were bullied so they brought a gun to school? Thats a smart idea. And country chic, you say that the kids will not understand, I beg to differ. If they charge, convict and sentence these lil punks for this act of stupidity/terrorism, they will soon get the picture. Our kids have become pansies and they think a gun is the way to settle a spat. Put a f'ing stop to it before its to late.

Teach your little whiner to use the manly art of self defense. No shame in being able to protect yourself. Put a black belt around them. The exercise won't hurt the whiner either.

But didn't it say they threatened a girl IF she told on them? I'm with you on the bullying going on in the schools and NOTHING being done about it. These days the kids aren't really just bullying it's more like terroristic threatening. It's only going to get worse. Really nothing is at the time.

Fire the school principle and the security guards. They are clearly not doing their jobs. Hire a principle and security guards that will do the job. Have a school assembly letting the students know that bullying will not be tolerated in the school. We teach our children to tell an adult when they are touched in an inappropriate way or molested. How about the same concept for when your little ones are being bullied?

@blessed1, the fact that they carried a loaded gun to school is enough for me. Some one isn't doing a good enough job teaching their children right from wrong. I agree with Empower, if they we're being bullied by another child, their intentions we're probably to use the gun! So glad no one was hurt. Sorry, just saying.
