Bryant Officer Gets Medal Of Valor

Scott Johnson was shot 3 times by murder suspect April 2.
LITTLE ROCK, AR-- A Bryant police officer got the city's Medal of Valor Thursday night, after being shot three times by a murder suspect.

He became the city's third person to recieve the honor.

Police say Scott Johnson was shot three times April 2, while responding to a burglary alarm at Fred's Dollar Store. Investigators say Johnson shot back, killing the suspect Thomas O'dell. He was wanted for murder from Illinois.

"I took two bullets to the hand, the finger and palm and then one in the shoulder," said Johnson.
Even though the medal is an honor, Johnson is happy he is still alive to care for his son and pregnant wife.

"God was looking out for me. I've been to church every Sunday since . I don't know why but there is propably a reason why I'm still here," said Johnson.

Johnson is also an Iraq war veteran, serving in the Army.
