BRYANT, AR – Officials from the Bryant Police Department arrested a man suspected of multiple fraud crimes over the weekend.
According to reports, Christopher Dwayne Barnes was arrested around 5:30 pm on April 13 at a pizza restaurant in Fayetteville. Barnes was wanted after accepting money for work that was not completed for the City of Bryant in 2010. Barnes was reportedly contracted and paid more than $40,000 for the purchase, installation and training on a new IP phone system connecting the city offices, but upon further investigation it was discovered that none of the phones were ever installed.
Officials say Barnes was paid more than $40,000 to work for the city. Barnes is currently being held in the Saline County Jail.
The investigation is ongoing.
