LITTLE ROCK, AR -- What if metal is submerged in water?  It could be destroyed and hurt business at Douglas Metal Components.

That's why owner Hunter Douglas gets them off the ground onto racks.

"If we get a steady rain like this we get to moving stuff," said Douglas.

When heavy rain is in the forecast, he and his employees bring to higher ground.

"I've had merchandise destroyed and what if you get bit by a dog one time well that's an accident but if you get bit twice that's foolishness," Douglas said.

The water comes from a creek behind his store.  When that fills up, it spills over onto his land and shuts down business for him and others nearby.

He lost business last December, too, when standing water shut down I-30.

"It's kind of like griping about old age you know. It happens and you can't do anything about it," said Douglas.

He said all he can do is watch the weather, hope for the best, and go with the flow of the water.

"The saving grace about that flood is that it's never here more than half a day," said Douglas.
