Businessman killed, pawn shop set on fire

Investigators say a Cabot pawn shop owner was killed and his business was set on fire in a possible robbery.
CABOT, Ark. (AP) – The ATF is offering a $5,000 reward for information regarding an incident where a Cabot pawn shop owner was killed and his shop set on fire Monday afternoon.

The Lonoke County Sheriff's Office says 61-year-old Billy Joe Pipkin was discovered inside KBC Pawn on Arkansas Highway 367 South by firefighters who had responded to the blaze around 4 p.m. Monday.

Investigators say Pipkin was shot and that merchandise from the business is missing. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities don't know what started the fire, but Sheriff's Lt. James Kulesa says some items will be sent to the state crime lab where a determination can be made.
