Is the city paying for it with tax dollars? Hmmm...pretty sure there's a constitutional issue here. Invasion of privacy, not to mention the liability the city would assume for the cabbies being shot at. Washington DC faced a similar lawsuit when they kept track of citizens coming and going in "known crime districts" at roadblocks. The government has NO right to keep up with people just because they want to. WOuldn't the video/audio recording be considered violation of surveillance laws and illegal search and seizure? WOW, I bet the ACLU will have a field day with this. If the city wants to do something about the crime, put more officers on the streets.

@guzzler - One of the complaints of the cabbies is that the sticker makes them a target (i.e. "There's one of those cabbie snitches. Let's see how he likes a little lead flying through his window."). The way I read their complaint it wasn't that they were being forced to actually do anything, but that it was simply something else to increase the violence they potentially face on a daily basis.

Wonder who came up with this crazy idea and what fool agreed and thouhgt it was a good one? I know LR / NLR police hold a varity of off duty security jobs, how many of them or off duty cab drivers? I am with the cab drivers on this one HECK NO!!!!!

Cab drivers I agree with you all on this one. Don't take a chance with your life. It ain't worth it. This can get you harmed or maybe killed. Stand up for your rights...

I don't see why the Cabbies didn't just go along with the BS in the office and then once out in the car, do what the hell you want and mind your own business

Gotta go with the fired cab drivers on this one. It would be one thing if the cab company provided training to those cabbies who VOLUNTEERED to take part. But to simply slap the sticker on the side of the cab and tell the driver "best of luck" is just asking for trouble.

I don't see this as being a bad thing as long as they are willing to provide a few things. Send them to school to be police officers. Bullet proof Glass, vest, guns and others. If not don't put them in harms way.

Things sure have changed since I worked for a cab company. Back in the day, there was no contract. You simply rented the taxi and bought the gas for it. A driver was considered self employed. Seems to me the driver's freedom of speech has been violated.

Cab drivers need to "patrol" our streets now? Isn't that law enforcements job? Sounds like LR city leaders have got a jump start on medicinal weed. What's next; militia's? Hope these cabbies find a good lawyer, and win some bucks from Yellow.

If the company is not offering any kind of compensation like an increase in pay or some kind of training to perform these new job duties then... ABSOLUTELY NOT!! They should not take that risk!! SHAME on the company for asking them to do such.
