CABOT, AR - The Cabot School District, several area churches, and even other charitable organizations join efforts to create the Cabot Christmas Alliance helping needy families in the community.
Volunteers distributed the very last items to families Wednesday night, just in time for the holiday.
The warehouse in Cabot storing all the donations is now empty after hundreds of families received bags and boxes filled with toys, clothes, and food to help make this Christmas extra special.
Every year the Cabot Christmas Alliance and Christmas for Kids organizations team up with the school district, local churches, and even the fire department to fill boxes and bags for those in need in Cabot.
Chairman of Christmas for Kids, Bill Holden, says after 35 years participating, this is his calling. "When I started we had 10 families and now we've grown to 750 families."
The need only fulfilled by the generosity of others, who say they're fortunate and blessed to be able to make Christmas a little brighter for someone else. Holden says it's really rewarding. "To see someone, especially children, when they realize they're going to get something is really exciting."
After every bag and box is delivered, any leftover toys are saved for Christmas next year, or given to the fire department to distribute when needed.
