LITTLE ROCK, AR - The Arkansas Scholarship Lottery announced that a Cabot woman won $1 million playing a $20 Diamond Dazzler ticket.

Ruth Simcox bought the winning ticket at Exxon Travel Plaza #3950 in Cabot.

Simcox, who has been a nurse at Arkansas Children’s Hospital for more than 30 years, said she purchased the ticket Wednesday and put it in her purse. She didn’t learn she was a winner until she scratched the ticket off later in the day.

Simcox went home with $680,000, with 25% being withheld for federal taxes and 7% for state income taxes.

Simcox is the 12th Arkansas Lottery Millionaire since the first ticket was sold September 29, 2009

WOW....to WOW WEEE...there is always a "hater" or someone like you that thinks its a conspiracy..oh yeah..its the white man...Give me a FN break. Its not a Conspiracy and has nothing to do with a white neighborhood ..your a common idiot that needs a life and stop hating. I'm a single mom with 2 kids and have worked 2 jobs..who cares..I don't want a handout and nor do I envy her. I'm blessed in my life and very happy for this woman. Oh and nurses don't make what you think they do. She deserved this money for taking care of all the sick children and providing the love and care...Go get a life you moron.

Why is it none of the poor people ever win the lottery? WE buy more tickets than anybody! I am glad for the lady but if she been a nurse for 30 years, she really don't need the money! Then the winning tickets always seem to wind up in the predominant white rural areas! I smell a Conspiracy folks.

Do they give you an option of being put on the news or not? If I won anything like this, I wouldnt want it made public. People would be hounding you down looking for a handout.
