FAYETTEVILLE, AR - A somber night at the University of Arkansas campus in Fayetteville where a candlelight vigil was held in honor of 19-year-old Garrett Uekman, who died suddenly Sunday.

The death of Garrett uekman is devastating students, staff and fellow teammates. Around 1,000 of the Razorback community gathered at But Walton Arena Monday night to remember him.

"I think that coming together as a student body and as an Arkansas razorback community really builds a foundation of what we are as a university and that's to support and care for our loved ones when they're in a time of need,” said Senior Michael Dodd.

"He was such a huge part of our university. We just wanted to come here and just remember all the great things he's done and show how much we really do care about him," said Elizabeth Fiser.

Uekman's fellow students, teammates, and friends say they'll remember him for his kindness, generosity, friendly personality and his love for the game.

"Know that life is short and precious and just enjoy it and be thankful for what you have during this holiday season,” Said Caitlin Wolfe.

Uekman leaves behind a student body with heavy hearts to carry on his razorback dreams.
