LITTLE ROCK, AR – A candlelight vigil will be held for Captain Donald Jones Thursday night at the Arch Street Fire Department, where the Arkansas Fallen Firefighters’ memorial statue is on display.

The vigil will be held from 9:00pm to 10:15pm, candles will be provided. The Arch Street Fire Department is located at 15923 Arch Street Pike in Little Rock.

Additionally, a benefit fund has been set up for the families of the emergency workers affected by Monday night’s incident. Donations can be made at any Arvest Bank branch to the following accounts:

  • City of Jacksonville Donald Jones Tragedy Fund
  • City of Jacksonville Jason Bowmaster Tragedy Fund
  • City of Jacksonville Daniel DiMatteo Fund

Jones, Bowmaster, and DiMatteo were struck by a car while working on a car accident involving a gas main Monday night. Police say a van being driven by Bryce Allen went around emergency vehicles and drove straight into first responders, making no attempt to stop. Police say that Allen’s mother was involved in the initial car accident.

Allen is in the Pulaski County Jail on charges of 2nd degree murder and criminal attempt to commit 2nd degree murder. His bond is set at $750,000.

Police are asking that the people in a red or maroon colored pick-up truck driving south on Highway 161 on the night of the accident (between 10:30pm and 11:00pm) come forward and speak with them. They should contact Detective Stallings at 501-982-0277 x2236.
