LITTLE ROCK, AR – Law enforcement agencies across Arkansas plan to perform saturation patrols and checkpoints from August 17th to September 3rd, searching for drunk drivers and those who ignore seat belt and child safety seat laws.

The timing coincides with Labor Day, which is on September 3rd.

The stated goal of the operation is to prevent injuries and save lives. Arkansas State Police say 3 out of every 10 accidents in Arkansas involve alcohol, and 6 out of every 10 people killed in traffic accidents were “not properly restrained.”

Golfdude; have to resectfully disagree with you on helmets. Studies done by University's back in the late '80's showed helmets cut down on periphial vision and hearing; two important senses when riding. These studies were published ( in part ) in Easy Rider. Other studies have shown full face helmets, such as the ones that cover the neck, cause more neck injuries as opposed to other type helmets.

Why not just "saturate" the bar areas if they really want to catch drunk drivers.

They arrested my neighbor for that golfdude. It was pretty expensive.

And, I will wear my seat belt when I want to. My vehicles, my decision, until they make motorcyclists wear helmets, this makes no sense. I do plan on driving my golf cart after having a few - hehe

I'll probably have a drink or two everyone of those days. But will not drive.

As I just logged on, the top story was about a woman that lost her life rolling her car. She wasn't wearing a seat belt. It may have saved her life. Drunks off the road is great! Keeps me and mine safer. Child seats? What's wrong with those? They keep children alive in accidents.

searching for drunk drivers and those who ignore seat belt and child safety seat laws. The list seems to be getting longer and longer on what the check point stops was suppose to stop.
