LITTLE ROCK, AR – The City of Little Rock has asked Judge to close the Heritage House Inn on South University.
City Attorney Tom Carpenter filed a motion to show cause with the Pulaski County District Court.
“It’s a matter of safety,” said City Manager Bruce Moore. “We’ve tried to work with Heritage House to address concern about the motel’s living conditions and the alleged illegal activity that goes on there. Taking this issue to court was the right and timely action to take.”
On February 28th, a missing 5-year-old was found alone in the Heritage House Inn. According to a police report, the room she was in was crawling with roaches, the only light that worked was in the bathroom, and there was drug paraphernalia and beer bottles strewn about the place.
After the girl was found, the Heritage House Inn was inspected by the Assistant Fire Marshal and a Building Codes Manager. Both concluded that the code violations at the Inn constituted a threat to the health, safety, and welfare to any occupants of the Inn.
