LITTLE ROCK, AR - "How do you ever know it was going to be a winner?" said former Raceway clerk Clarence Walker.
That's the million dollar question brothers Clarence and Alfred Walker are asking after getting fired from Raceway on University last week. The Walker's are two of three men fired accused of knowingly selling faulty lottery tickets.
Arkansas Millionaire's Club scratch off player Rick Tomboli filed a lawsuit against the Arkansas Lottery Commission last week claiming the store is selling $20 tickets that "were tampered with."
"I noticed each one of the tickets all were scratched," Tomboli said in an exclusive interview with Fox16.
Tomboli claims certain tickets are scratched to slightly expose the text "Try Again" on the tickets before the game is played. He says that's how clerks can identify a winning ticket from a losing one.
"If it's that easy to read a ticket and to win off of it, how many vendors are doing this?" said Tomboli.
The Walker brothers claim - not them.
"I'd be rich if I knew all the winning tickets that come in a pack," said Alfred Walker.
"I play the lottery just like everybody else plays the lottery and I lose too," added his brother. "The reason why we got fired is so Raceway can keep selling their lottery tickets."
The Lottery Commission released this statement, Friday, saying "The lottery placed the issue in the hands of the Little Rock Police Department Financial Crimes Unit."
Although no arrests have been made yet police say, it's still possible leaving the Walker brothers looking for a lawyer.
"It's a cover up," said Clarence Walker. "They're trying to put it on us so the Lottery Commission will be in the clear."
The Walker brothers say the whole situation would be cleared up if someone would just take a look at the security tapes from inside the Raceway. However, when Fox16 asked to take a look, the store clerks said absolutely not.
Right now the lawsuit is filed only against the Arkansas Lottery Commission and it's ticket distributor, Scientific Games, Inc.
There is a third clerk named as being fired on the police report. When Fox16 asked the Walker brothers about him, they said that employee actually quit about two weeks ago.
