The way this PPC committee was elected is a joke. Ballots were removed from buildings before many teachers were able to vote. (I will not stop teaching to handle personnel issues.) We don't know who counted/certified the votes. The teacher that initially sent out the email to set up the vote was elected. The whole process is very suspicious, not to mention insulting, in the way she approached us. For the record-I have a problem with Dr. Guess and Mr.Kimbrell wanting to reduce my salary and benefits or possibly cut my position, when the State Board of Education has not made any attempt to recover money that was squandered/embezzled by employees/board of PCSSD. If half the rumors are true, we should be seeing some indictments coming down. Instead we hear of panty purchases from Dillard's, transmissions for personal vehicles, $30,000+ taken by someone in the finance office being allowed to resign without charges filed, and numerous other transgressions by (hopefully)former employees. The Dream program that owed the district has never been mentioned again. Didn’t they owe many thousands of dollars to the District as well? These thieves will be allowed to spend/steal money from the District, that I am supposed to now joyfully make up, by taking a cut to my salary and losing benefits. The same benefits PACT negotiated with Mr. Kimbrell in November. I understand that we all need to make sacrifices to save the district, but teachers have already compromised on raises, and changed our insurance plans to save the district money. We work long hours outside of the school day because there is not enough time during the day to complete everything we must do to ensure our student’s achievement. With seven classes and 140+ students each day, I am given less than 7 minutes per class each day to make lesson plans, grade papers, enter attendance and grades, review test scores, etc. Every teacher I know willingly gives up personal time to ensure success. To ask for more is insulting.
