At 15 y/o my spanking days were over and if I would have touched one of the ol man's guns, I would have caught one on the ol kisser, and it would not have been anything I would have forgotten.

Some parts of the equation may be missing though. Single parent homes. Both parents working; maybe more than one job. And then you have the one's that just don't care what their kids are doing, where they are doing it at, and at what time - until it's their "baby" that was killed or shot. Dad was raised on the farm; I was taught early and often about guns, and the dangers involved. And we didn't need to lock them up; my brother and I were not stupid or crazy. I remember at 12 I got some mud in my barrel; got a butt whipping, had to clean the gun to a DI's standards, and the gun sat in a living room corner for 30 days; in plain sight, but I was told it was off limits until my 30 days were up; and so it was! Can you do that in today's world with the Fed's feeding our kids dope to keep them in line in school? Probably not.

How dumb do you have to INSTILL in your children the dangers of messing with guns AND MAKE SURE THEY CAN'T GET TO THEM. The don't care until one of their children gets killed acting like a thug...they THEY WANT ANSWERS. I am so sick of that phrase...Answer: You child was doing something they weren't supposed to do in a place they weren't supposed to be. Problem nowdays is the guns are laying around the living room and the MAN of the house is bragging about what he does.

I think parents are talking to their children's about guns, but as long as we have them in the home not locked up it's going to be a problem,I know everyone want to protect them selves, but don't for get about the safety of your children.

Well no shat!!!!!!!! Parents need to talk to their kids about guns. Parents also need to be parents and actually teach morals to their kids. Parents need to teach respect and discipline at home and maybe some of these lil bad ass punks will not become screw ups.
