I think that if we were all held accountable now for what we did 30 years ago, we would all be in trouble. A clean record for 30 years since should say something.

What I do not know if the Admendment say's you can't have any convitcions and no crimanl act to run for sheriff then why was he elected. I think he should be fired because if it was anybody else they would have beem fired. But if they knew of his cinvitcions why are they just now bringing it up now.

This could be a laughable situation, One might even find it ridiculous that it is even a news story if it were not for the fact that this person committed a criminal act WHILE acting as a sworn Law Enforcement Official 30 years ago and now holds one of the highest Law Enforcement positions in a county in Arkansas. It is not important that the criminal activity was classified as a misdemeanor 30 years ago, it was a criminal act that this person committed under color of authority. Could it be politically motivated, this revelation of a convicted criminal elected to the position of Sheriff, Might be, the bigger picture and the 800 pound catfish in the swimming pool most importantly is that He admitted to and continues to admit his GUILT in this issue, Law Enforcement in the hands of a person who turned his back on what was the right thing to do and had his "INTEGRITY" bought off by some tiny chickens ! What happens when it's several hundred thousand dollars in cash or drug siezures

Searcy County is a very small close knit county. Everyone's nose is always in everyone else's business. Growing up as a teenager, I was always told that if I got into any mischief, my folks would know about it before I got home. That was just about the truth :) All that being said, everyone in the county that knew Kenny, and voted for him, knew the cornish hen story from 30 years ago. We all voted for him because he is a man of integrity and good character! Sheriff Cassell was approved by the election commission over a year ago and was subsequentely elected sheriff by popular vote. Leave the man alone...surely the statute of limitations has expired after 30 years. Is honesty not respected? Shouldn't the election commission be the one being questioned? Mr.Hiland may say politics is not involved but, as a lifelong resident of Searcy County, I am sure it is. Mr. Cassell is probably doing his job as sheriff a little too good for someone's liking!

My question is do they not screen and do backround check of people who regester to run for public office? This man ran a newspaper artical telling the voters he had made the mistake prior to being voted in, if the problem was not seen when he regestered then it should have caught afer the newspaper artical was ran! My god this was 30 years ago, give me a break the individual who is pursuing this action is just tring to get re elected. This is pure BS.
