PINE BLUFF, AR - It was a busy night for the Pine Bluff City Council on Monday, voting on several issues that could have greatly impacted their police department.
When it was all said and done, there was a lot of discussion but very little change. The amendment for all uniformed employees of Pine Bluff to submit random drug and alcohol testing passed. An amendment from Police Chief Brenda Davis-Jones pushing for uniform amendments and regular inspections did not pass, as well as proposed changes to the police department’s procedure manual.
The other item of particular interest that came up at Monday’s city council meeting also failed.
Amending an ordinance regarding the review committee dealing with suspensions, demotions, and dismissal of firefighters and police officers.
City Council members told Fox 16 that they hope to send a strong message to Chief Davis-Jones that they want to stick to the current policies in place.
