ROGERS, Ark. (AP) — Rogers police have arrested a man and a woman after someone found a 5-year-old girl chained to a piece of furniture at a residence.
Authorities say David Bridgeman and Jana Slinkard are accused of permitting the abuse of a minor and false imprisonment. Officers arrested them on Friday and they remained in custody at the Benton County jail on Saturday.
According to a probable cause affidavit, a woman staying with Bridgeman and Slinkard awoke Tuesday after hearing a girl crying. The woman found the child bound to a dresser with a chain and a loop and freed her.
Bridgeman told police he restrained the girl after finding her outside one night without a shirt or shoes.
A jailer said she didn't know if Bridgeman or Slinkard had retained attorneys.
