Chain the parents up for awhile. It would be more strict of a punishment than the justice system will give them.

A five year old child know when they are being abused maybe the reason she was outside was because she was trying to run away. Keeping her chained like a dog is abuse ! Some animals have more freedom, and are treated better than children. They need to do jail time and lose their freedom. God bless the child that has its own................

When my son was 2-3 years old he was such an escape artist that we had locks installed top and bottom of all our doors. Had to keep an eagle on him all the time. But we never had to chain him to furniture. And espectially at 5 years old.

pat72209, It is never ok, under any circumstances what so ever to chain any child, I don't care how old they are, to anything! That is abuse! This child's parents should be jailed. No if ands or buts about it! There are other ways to prevent a child from going outside in the middle of the night.

What is wrong with some of these people? Wouldn't it have been easier to have put a lock on the door in which the child could not possibly reach? Stupid people should not breed!

The audacity of stupid people! If you can't handle you child/children you definatly do not chain them to furniture! Insane!!! People like that are not right in the head, forsure!

Our mom and dad used to lock us in the corn crib. All 13 of us turned into pillars of the community. The trouble these days is parents are not left alone when it comes to correcting their children. Stupid people should be outlawed and parents should crack those belts back out. Maybe then every other story on here wouldn't be another crime that has been committed. Prisons would empty out some. Add it up. See how fast the prison population started growing when DHS started.

I don't care what your reasoning is, there is no excuse to chain a 5 year old girl to a dresser when there are adults in the home. Since there is not much to go on here, I expect there may be some abuse going on there. I pray that it isn't but there have been too many news reports of children being abused. Praying that little girl remains safe with people who love her.
