Craigslist Ad Leads to Armed Robbery But Witness Tip Prompts To Arrest

Two men from Conway were robbed at gunpoint early Wednesday morning after responding to a car ad on Craigslist.
North Little Rock, AR -- Two men from Conway were robbed at gunpoint early Wednesday morning after responding to a car ad on Craigslist.

"I was coming out of my boyfriend's house getting ready to go to my house," said a witness who preferred to remain anonymous with two dangerous suspects still on the loose.

It was just after 2:00am Wednesday when she stepped out of an apartment in a complex near Camp Robinson Road road to see a gun being held to a man's head.

"What are you doing?  What are you doing?  Why are you doing this?" the woman overheard the victim saying.  "I was acting like I wasn't paying attention. At the same time I was dialing 9-1-1, because it didn't look right."

North Little Rock Police say it all started with an ad for a car on Craigslist.

"When the victim was ready to pay for the vehicle, he was robbed by two individuals at gun point," said Brian Dedrick with the North Little Rock Police Department.

Police believe the suspects fled in the car they were offering to sell, but thanks to the witness's quick call, officers were able to catch up with the vehicle before it got to far.

In it, they found 24-year-old Stephan Straw.  Police don't believe he was there for the robbery.  But they say he admitted to helping with the set up and it was his car used in the ad.

Straw is being charged with Aggravated Robbery.  North Little Rock Police say they're following up on leads and hope to arrest the two other men involved soon.
