My Aunt and Uncle used to live over on Adam St. when I was a kid. One of my cousins 2 yrs older than me used to take care of the score board. I would go visit them when school was out in Morrilton. I would help my cousin run the score board sometimes. It was all manuel then , no electronics. We had to put of scroes for the whole leaque during the game. There was a little ticker tape machine behind the score board where we was. We would pick up the tape and see if any of the other teams scored. Had a lot of fun doing that. I-630 wasnt there then. We would go behind out field fence during batting practice and run after the balls when they came over the fence. My cousin was faster than us so he would get most of the balls ,sometimes he would not see where it came over then someone else would get the ball. He has a cardboard box full of baseballs, wouldnt share a one with us. LOL often wondered what happen to all those balls. Gona have to ask him next time I see him. Sometimes we would get all involved in looking at the ticker tape and miss a score on the field. Little phone would ring behind the scoreboard ,you boys need to wake up we just had a run come in. OOPS sorry. Good ole days.

Mr. Tate - YOU did a fabulous job on this news piece. It very much mirrored a Sunday morning magazine piece. I loved the inclusion of Valentine's historical narration. Your segment was very much a contribution to the Americana that once was. Thanks for putting so much effort in to the piece!
