LITTLE ROCK, AR – The Drug Enforcement Administration is warning of a scam going around Arkansas where impersonators are contacting citizens posing as DEA agents.

The Department of Justice says in the scam, the perpetrators contact the victims, who in most cases previously purchased drugs over the internet or by telephone. The impostors tell the victims that purchasing drugs over the internet or by telephone is illegal, and enforcement action will be taken against them unless they pay a fine.

Anyone receiving communication from someone who says they are a DEA agent or other law enforcement official seeking money should refuse the demand and report the threat to 877-792-2873.

Additionally, the DEA warns against purchasing controlled substances online or by phone from unknown entities. You could be getting unsafe or ineffective drugs and your personal and financial information could be compromised.
