Deputies: hot check arrest ends "crime wave"

Hot Spring County deputies recover what they say is a stolen Ford F-350 and end up with what they believe to be a whole lot of other stolen goods in the process.
HOT SPRING COUNTY, AR - Hot Spring County deputies recover what they say is a stolen Ford F-350 and end up with what they believe to be a whole lot of other stolen goods in the process.

"Up here at the front we have four of the industrial style rolling toolboxes," said Investigator Philip Calhoun while pointing out items inside of a 25-foot trailer. "They're pretty much packed full of tools."

Deputies say Travis Blount is responsible for buying the truck and most of the goods in the trailer with hot checks. Casey Moore's mom in Jackson, Mississippi sold the truck to Blount, and deputies say Blount then brought it back to Hot Spring County.

"He absolutely is as slick as you can be," said Moore. "This is why nobody trusts anybody anymore."

Deputies say they ended up searching Blount's house in Hot Spring County, and that's where they found the trailer and everything inside.

Said Calhoun, "with information from the informant that we got, their statement was that it was all stolen."

Deputies think Blount pulled the same scam for years. He's currently charged with crimes in several places in Arkansas as well as in Missouri.

"We have ended a crime wave that's covered years," said Calhoun.

The timing couldn't be better for Casey Moore. Thanks to Hot Spring County deputies, his mom will get her truck back.

"Without them," he said, "I mean you know, we'd be still stuck in the mud."
