GARLAND COUNTY, AR - No more gate -- no pay for a month. That's the decision Pulaski County Sheriff Doc Holladay passed down on suspended Lt. Corey Lawson.

"Basically he embarrassed the sheriff's department, he embarrassed me, he embarrassed himself," said Holladay.

According to a Garland County Sheriff's Office report -- Lawson became upset with his girlfriend at the Brady Mountain Resort, pushed her, and then rammed his truck into a gate twice, tearing it down. That launched a Pulaski County Sheriff's Office internal investigation.

Holladay says his investigators couldn't find enough evidence to back up the allegations of Lawson pushing his girlfriend, which Holladay says started with the girlfriend herself.

"She has refused to cooperate in any fashion with the investigation," he said, "or to cooperate with Garland County in their investigation."

As a result of the incident, Garland County prosecutors say Lawson could still face criminal charges.

"We will assess the situation at the time," said Holliday. "Certainly it could have an impact on his future with this agency."

Otherwise though, Holladay says he'll welcome Lawson back -- after 160 hours, or four work weeks, without pay.

"He made some mistakes," said Holladay, "and he has to suffer the consequences of those mistakes."

Sheriff Holladay says Lt. Lawson's insurance company reimbursed the Brady Mountain Resort for the damage. Attempts to reach Lawson for comment were not immediately successful.

at least they aren't paying him for his vacation. Since the property owner didn't want to press criminal charges, yet, I guess they really don't have grounds to terminate him. Sure cops are supposed to be "role models" and upstanding citizens but everyone has their bad moments.. At least he didn't beat the living crap out of his girlfriend. He might have been pushing the crazy thing out of his face..and who's never had a lover's spat that made you want to drive through a gate or tear up something? I don't really think it's a big deal..a lover's quarrel isn't a reflection of how well he performs his job duties. but he's still a douche

Give him a break, the meth and bud lite made him do it. Besides, with the IQ of a lawnmower, he did not have a fair start in life

The word everyone is looking for is protected......the special ones are. A lowly deputy would have been termed immediately. Like they say the good old boys network is alive and well at PCSO. There is so much discord now among the ranks...this will not help....what happened to the coworkers that were with him?

Of course they will welcome him back, he is "one of the guys". Swat man, range master everybodies buddy. Believe they will make sure he is ok. I know this from personal experiance working for PCSO in the past. They don't mention however that C.Lawson has a tigger temper plus other things.

That's exactly what is wrong with law enforcement. You can bet he pushed his girlfriend. Then rams a gate with a vehicle. This guy has no place in law enforcement. What will he do next, ram a vehicle into a citizen. This guy needs to be investigated and terminated at once. What is wrong with Holladay ? That is why people don't trust cops anymore, they are as bad as thugs on the street.
