I found this incident to be very sad and preventable if the 911 operator would have done her/his job correctly. what I find appalling is that the advice given after this tragedy was that if you call 911 you should stay on the phone with the operator and keep asking them if they have called the police yet. WHAT??? I thought the job of a 911 operator was to assess the information given and dispatch the necessary personnel. I could not figure out where the PR person was on this one because Davis essentially blamed this women for her own death. So just remember when you are panic stricken in a life/death situation to stay on the phone and keep telling the 911 operator how to do their job because if not you may possible not get the help you need. Ridiculous not only should the operator be fired but Davis should be fired for getting on television and blaming the victim!

I do have a question about EMS is there some rule stating they can't go into water that wasn't that deep to help the trapped people? Just curious because it seems odd that EMS would just stand there and watch as a mother and child drown while EMS waits on someone else to get on scene. Not blaming them but it just seems to strike me odd that they didn't even try to save them since they were the only emergency responders on scene.

I think you maybe confused about your own opinion on the issue. You may not be a hypocrite after all.Do you not understand that training is needed for all who work in Law enforcement. The police, dispatchers etc.If anyone who is working a position to protect in serve do not follow procedure Lives can be lost.In that response you still didnt mention who you think needs better training.I hope you're not saying that its o.k to not follow procedure if its a person breaking the law? Is that it...

My first comment was in reference to the response time that could be due to the distance those responders had to travel to get there. We need more police cars out there....the remark about the dogs was just a remark about the need to beef up our police force.

You and I both know you were referring to the LRPD shooting the black criminal. I guess you want to desegregate criminals and cops? Only have black cops arrest/investigate black criminals and white cops arrest/investigate white criminals? I wonder if you realize that cops shoot white criminals and criminals of other races as well as black criminals. It does happen you know.

Race card?? But I don't understand. I never brought race up I just pointed out that you would prefer better training for dispatchers but with the police you turn your head. What does race have to do with that. Ohh are you saying because the police that didn't follow training killed a black man. Or is it because majority of the police shooting have been against black men and in each case they didn't follow procedure. Your confusing me...who do you want better training for?

wth501, put your race card back into your Dickies pocket and use it at a later time, it isnt needed here, nothing racial to sue over. My point, you ignorant turd, is that they need to make sure that the people running the dispatch are trained in how to their job. It has nothing to do with anything but that.

1gmama if you would read that is exactly what butch said. Where was the thug. He didn't read about one in the story either. The sad thing is to have to pay people to do what you should do for yourself. Cover your butt.
