Documents: Arrested ASP Officer Was Scolded By Prosecutor

New documents are shining a light on alarming allegations in the past of an Arkansas State Police officer accused of stealing drugs from an evidence vault and then passing them off to someone else who sold them on the streets.
LITTLE ROCK, AR -- New documents are shining a light on alarming allegations in the past of an Arkansas State Police officer accused of stealing drugs from an evidence vault and then passing them off to someone else who sold them on the streets.

The documents are also providing new information about what federal agents found when they searched the home of Lt. Sedrick Reed on July 18th.

In a citizen complaint filed against Reed, a woman named Dedra Rudley describes a disturbing incident on July 4th, 2011 where she says Reed slapped her daughter and choked a friend.

Days later, Rudley says Reed followed her in his car, stopped her in traffic, pulled a gun and threatened to shoot her.

The complaint was filed July 7th of that year.  Six-months later prosecuting attorney Larry Jegley wrote a letter to Reed's supervisor -- saying that while an investigation into the complaint did not find any criminal wrongdoing, Reed's behavior was "troubling" and "smacked of an abuse of power."

Still, Reed's file shows no disciplinary action.

Reed stayed on with ASP until this month when he was arrested.

When the FBI searched his home they allegedly found $13,000 in cash hidden behind a picture frame, a state police gun that had been reported "lost or stolen" and a significant amount cocaine and heroin.

After reviewing the case against Reed, a federal judge said Reed may have been stealing drugs from evidence since as early as 2005.

Another complaint filed against Reed in 2007 accuses him of verbally abusing and physically challenging someone in a State Police office parking lot.

An email and phone call to Reed's lawyer was not immediately returned.
