LITTLE ROCK, AR - A steady decline in the amount of crime in downtown Little Rock but that doesn't mean it's not still happening. Violent crime is up so downtown residents are taking matters to city leaders asking them to clean up the act.

Wednesday night, police shared there are still no arrests in the December 28th beating of a Boulevard Bread Company truck driver. They say they've pulled prints from the truck but found no matches.

Also, the FBI is taking over the investigation into racial slurs and death threats found at the Emoba Museum on Valentines Day.

Thanks to a public forum held by the Downtown Neighborhood Association, police say they're reorganizing the department into special detective subdivisions aimed to better protect those living in the downtown area as well as solve these crimes much faster.

@Butch54 - I'm trying to understand your post. Are you saying that if someone uses a gun to protect himself/herself, another person, or their property (basically keeping themselves from becoming a victim) that he/she is a criminal? If not, then what are you saying?

I don't know how you can do that. To many thugs and people that think a gun is the only answer. Remember this when you take the law into your own hands you may be the one behind bars. Someone put it pretty well on here before. There are two kinds of people. Criminals and the ones that haven't been caught yet.

Dont ask the police to lower the crime rate, it wont do any good. You need to ask the lawmakers and the judicial system to do something to make crime a crime and make prison actual punishment. Until the justice system does something to hold criminals accountable for their actions, crime will never go down. A slap on the wrist does nothing to anyone. Make sentences severe, stop parole, stop the emergency powers act, stop the "good time" system. I dont want to hear any crap about prison overcrowding. If these criminals want to cry they are being house in a 6 by 8 cell with 4 or 5 other people and that they are being treated unfair, then they can always opt to stay out of trouble. To hell with their comforts, I'm worried about mine. I dont care about their rights, I want my rights as a law abiding citizen protected.

I've got a better idea, instead of complaining to the police, how about going through the required training and licensing to get a concealed carry permit? Most violent crime happens quickly and the perp has left before anyone can even call the police (let alone the police arrive on the scene).
