LITTLE ROCK, AR – The El Chico Little Rock locations have announced their plans to donate a portion of proceeds to the family of murdered employee Jesus Larrious Herrera on April 18, 2012.

According to a release, Herrera, 39, was an employee of El Chico on Breckenridge Road in Little Rock, where he’d worked since 1999. He died on April 15.

“Jesus was wonderful. He was liked by everyone and was a genuinely nice person,” El Chico general manager Michael Easley said. “He will be deeply missed.”

The El Chico restaurants located at 1315 Breckinridge and 8409 Interstate 30 will open at 11 a.m. April 18 and serve lunch and dinner until 10 p.m.

“The El Chico family thanks the community for their thoughts and prayers as we mourn the loss of Jesus Larrious Herrera,” El Chico Restaurants president Don Dungy said. “He was a valued member of our company for 10 years. We hope this fundraiser is a way for our family and Mr. Herrera’s family to begin healing.”

It saddens me to hear something like this happened and to know selfish greed was behind this tragedy makes it even more devastating. What a statement and example this business is setting by supporting the family of a valued employee! My thoughts and prayers are with the Herrera Family. May God provide you strength and comfort.
