LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - A former Little Rock police officer charged with manslaughter in the shooting death of a 15-year-old is appealing the department's decision to fire him.

Little Rock labor and employee relations manager Stacey Witherell said Wednesday that Josh Hastings has submitted paperwork for his appeal - but a hearing date hasn't been set yet.

Hastings was fired Friday after police said he violated department policies related to a June 25 burglary and the Aug. 12 shooting death of Bobby Moore Jr.

Hastings' lawyer, Bill James, says he doesn't believe Hastings did anything wrong and should be reinstated.

Hastings has pleaded not guilty to manslaughter in Moore's death. A court date has not been set.

He still has a trial to go through ( what's up with that Pulaski County DA? ). And I imagine a civil trial waiting in the wings; he killed my poor innocent son that was just trying to make a living.

I would like to know what happened to the 2 Black Officers transporting dope in LRDP cars! If this man had back up, this would not have happened? I know its a different time frame but when your are by yourself with no help and crap hits the fan...Well Keep your underage kids at home with the parents...Where were The PARENTS! or should I say BREEDERS?

To me501 I guss you forgot that was a punk thug that he shot,was you there that night,did the punk drive forward and than start to back up who knows,he was stealing and driving a stolen car,hope he gets his job back,to bad he can't sue the parents for letting the punk run all hours of the night,not only that night but other when he and his punks friends were out stealing peoples property.
