Family, burned dogs get worldwide support

People not just in Arkansas, but all over the world, are rallying behind the Foley family and their English bulldogs.
PULASKI COUNTY, AR - People not just in Arkansas, but all over the world, are rallying behind the Foley family and their English bulldogs.

"It's unbelievable," Jeff foley said of the support.

Here's why: Foley told investigators someone came into his home through an unlocked back door last week, covered the kitchen and two of his eight dogs in gasoline, and then lit the place on fire with the Foley family still inside.

"It was a, in my opinion, a thought out, planned murder attempt on my family," said Foley.

His family made it out ok, but the fire burned all eight dogs. Two of them had to be put down.

"I never thought that they would be going together in such a tragic way," explained Foley while holding the dogs' remains in two urns.

Pulaski county investigators are working the case, but say one week later, leads are hard to come by.

"Obviously if we don't solve something in a couple of days then that means, you know, that the things we need to happen aren't falling into place," said Lt. Carl Minden.

It's not just investigators and the Foley's with an interest in the case. For instance, an on-line petition demanding justice for the dogs has more than 18,000 signatures from as far away as Germany. Also, a chip-in page dedicated to the dogs raised more than $12,000.

The Foley's say they're grateful and, for now, want to leave their supporters with this bit of advice: "I just want to tell everyone out there," Foley said, "don't take tomorrow for a given. Enjoy and love everything you have that's dear to you today."

Because of fire damage to their home, the Foley's are currently staying at both a family member's one-bedroom apartment and a motel. The surviving dogs are still being cared for at the Doubletree Veterinary Clinic in Little Rock.
