LITTLE ROCK, AR - As the doors open to the Jack Stephens Center, the excitement and anticipation builds.
Fans wait in line to grab up souvenirs … reminders of this moment that will last longer than the game. But some of these fans don’t have one particular team their cheering for.
Some are just fans of basketball, here to cheer for whom ever needs it the most. They are admirers of the sport – and the talent on the court.
“Whoever makes a good play, I yell for that.” Basketball fan Jim Maples said.
Delaware Hens in blue may be outnumbered in the stands, but not in passion.
“It’s been a phenomenal year,” Delaware fan Margie Apps said. “These kids have worked so hard. They’re great kids, not just playing basketball. We’ve been to all but three of their games.”
And for these fans, it almost doesn’t matter who wins because they’ve worked out a deal.
“The lady we met who is a real big Trojan fan, she said if they lose they’ll root for us and they would expect the same, and we said ok, fair deal.” Apps said.
So win or lose, it’s all about having fun.
