I cant believe that the adults around here actually think a child deserved to die behind a wallet it dont matter if he went to school everyday or once a week he was still a child. now just put yourself in dis family shoes & why do it matter how many kids his dad have he was still a child.Everybody survive in many different ways everybody wasnt born with everything handed to them look at our world today you have to have two jobs just to make ends meet not to have your wants but just to have your needs meet if your a family..ima a single parent of 3 and my husband was just killed last year..so before you start judging put yourself in dat family shoes and think...RIL LIL MIKE...MY PRAYERS IS GOING OUT TO THIS FAMILY!!!

I totally despise criminals, of all types. I do not condone the stealing of the wallet, nor do I condone the driver of the van trying to persuade the kids with the money, then running one over after he stole the wallet. The older man made the mistake of flashing his money around, the kid made the mistake of trying to steal it, then the older man made the ultimate mistake by killing the kid. At 14 years old, his life was basically valued at less than $100 a year for each year he was alive. The fact he was a black kid in an alternative school has nothing to do with it. The fact he obviously was never taught that it is wrong to take from others has a lot to do with it. We can not be with these kids 24/7, but damnit we can do our part to try and teach them better than this. I bet the parents/guardians wish they could get a mulligan on this one. Sad, so very sad.

It's a terrible shame that a lives were taken over a wallet. It is also disturbing to read the comments that are left. Questions will forever be unanswered as to why was the child not in school, why would he take something that did not belong to him....but was what he did really worth taking his life and losing "yours"? Times are hard and it is a struggle with the economy the way it is. Some feel as though they have to take matters into their own hands to seek justice. In all of this, I have to question the parents....Children learn right and wrong from the parents, from "friends", family, etc. This is something that is taught. What type of example are the parents teaching or setting for these kids to think that it is okay to steal. For these kids not to be in school. Children follow influence, it is up to the parents to show the positive aspect of life. It is a terrible, terrible tragedy this young boy had to die over a matter that seems to most so meaningless. But it is also disturbing to know the child seemed to be brave enough to take something that didn't belong to him. I have a son this same age. I know that he would never think twice about taking something that did not belong to him, but that is the guidance and the parenting I have shown him. It seems children now and days have no consequences for their actions, legally or at home........so why should they care what they do, who it may hurt or damage.......as long as it's not them. It seems as though they never look at the big picture in the scheme of things, only living for the moment.

If this was such a good child- why was he and his other friend not in school? I was always taught not to take something that did not belong to you. I hate the child had to loose his life, but one thing for sure his parents will always know where he is now at all times. Damn, at age 14 I was in school learning, getting along with peers and playing sports. Oh yeah!! and obeyed curfew rules from my parents.

Untill our judical system gets their heads out of their butts and does something benifical this stuff will continue. He shouldn't have killed him but, what other alternative did he have but to take the law in his own hands. The cops might have found him with no money and the courts would have slapped his hands.

@ byronsmomma...not all kids are like this, some actually go to school and then get a job and become productive citizens. they don'T GO OUT AND STEAL.I raised my two sons with out the help of mother and taught them the right way to do things, that includes ..protect what is yours. the folks who wrote in this forum are not the ones to blame for this kids actions. That was all his choice. If you take something that is not yours, be prepared that the owner my take it back.most folks i know always carry a weapon of protection when they go out, you have to these days because of felons and thugs who dont want to work for a living. @ xwildOne... you are prolly more correct than you know. @ becky ...lol Good day to all and hug your kids today( no matter how old they )

You people make me sick to my stomach. Here you are "adults" basically saying that this teenager deserved to die because he stole a wallet and the man that did it should get away with it. I happen to personally know this kid and his family. Yes some parents are worthless but doesnt mean they dont love their kids. Till you've been there... And know someone you shouldnt open your mouths. Shame on you and you wonder why kids are growing up like this. Those of you who wrote such nonsense are the ones to blame. You should love people for who they are. This child was by no means a Thug. You need to get yourselves together and get educated before you go assumeing things
