LITTLE ROCK, AR – A fire at a Little Rock gas station destroyed a car Friday morning. Firefighters were on scene for more than an hour putting out the flames.
"We were supposed to be going to San Antonio today, to Sea World," explained Adrienne Akbar. "That's cancelled. We can't go anywhere. The truck is totaled."
Akbar's car caught fire at the Kroger gas station on Asher Avenue in Little Rock shortly before 11 Friday morning. Fire investigators aren't sure how it started.
"I don't know what was going on," said Akbar. "I just couldn't believe it was on fire. I'm like what happened? "
Firefighters say they've heard a number of reports about the cause of the fire, but none are confirmed. Because of burning gas, they used a foam mixture to smother the flames.
"They're using quite a bit of it," said Capt. Randy Hickmon. "There's quite a bit of fuel in that tank and it's punctured so we're going to have to wait until all of that fuel burns out."
Firefighters say when the blaze started; flames actually reached the roof of the gas station. Akbar's truck is a total loss, and she says that's not all.
"Everything, you know, is in there," she said. "My keys to my other truck, my credit card, money, my phone is in there. Everything is gone."
