Firecracker Fast 5K

LITTLE ROCK, AR - More than 1,200 people laced up their shoes and started their Fourth of July with a bang, running in the Firecracker Fast 5K.

The annual event has been run since 1977. The 3.1 mile race begins in the Heights and ends at War Memorial Stadium.

In the Men’s Division, the winner was Dan Kirwa of Searcy, with a time of 14:27. Second place went to Julius Kosgei, also of Searcy, with a time of 15:01.

In the Women’s Division, the winner was Tracy Tungac of Bryant, with a time of 18:03. Right behind her was 4-time Little Rock Marathon champion Leah Thorvilson, with a time of 18:17.

Fox 16’s Kevin Kelly and Jeff Baskin also ran in the event. This was Jeff’s first 5K, he finished in 21:43. Kevin finished 19 seconds later, at 22:02.
