ENGLAND, AR – The England City Council has denied Herman Hutton’s appeal to be reinstated as England’s police chief.

Hutton was fired in September by Mayor Danny Maynard for “personnel reasons.” Hutton maintains that his termination was the result of religious discrimination.

The council met in executive session for more than an hour while hundreds of Hutton supporters awaited the decision.

Hutton says he plans to continue the fight to get his job back.

I am just glad for once, the citizen's of this town are standing up to these people in this town. They have done what they want for so long, it comes a time when someone or something must put an end to people being treated unfairly because of the good ole boy system.

I'm sorry but I have lived in England for about 13 years. For as long as I can remember this town has always been about who you know, not what you know. There are several "BIG" last names I will not mention but if things aren't ran there way, well, we see the outcome. It has been that way at the schools, in youth sports programs, and now into the Mayor's office as well as the police department. I will continue to pray that the Chief will perservere.

When something smells fishy you usually end up finding something rotten......I think it speaks highly of the mayor for not going on camera unlike the ex chief of police has done every chance he has gotten.....Ex Chief seems like he could be a wolf in sheep's clothing......The city council OBVIOUSLY heard sound solid facts and saw the proof for the mayors decision on firing Hutton or the city council would have reinstated him....Especially with all the media Hutton has contacted through out.

I think the mayor of England, Arkansas has confused his title w/ being the King of England (another country), and doesn't realize that come election time his days are likely numbered and will be removed of his current position.
