FAULKNER COUNTY, AR – The Arkansas Forestry Commission says someone intentionally started a fire burning near the Faulkner-Pulaski County line and it is being investigated as arson.

Fires burn on as the sun sets on what investigators are calling the scene of a woods arson.

"I hope they catch him," said Paul Fulmer, the owner of the land where a fire burned 30 acres Tuesday afternoon.

"They need to be prosecuted if they're caught," said Fulmer.

With winds reaching as high as 30 miles an hour, bulldozers are the firefighters best defense.

The bulldozers create a path all around the fire and you can see it literally stops the fire right in its tracks.

"With the way the wind is blowing all it takes is one little tiny piece of burning leaf laying over in that grass and off it's gone again," said forestry commissioner Scott Youngblood.

Fire officials downgraded the burn estimate, now saying the fire consumed 30 acres of a wooded area. 5 volunteer fire departments and an Arkansas Forestry Commission crew fought the fire, which is now under control.

No homes were evacuated or in danger as a result of the fire.
