BRYANT, AR – Former Bryant High School band teacher James Chad Green has been charged with 1st degree sexual assault, according to the Bryant Police Department. The charge is in connection to an alleged assault on a student at the school.

The Saline County Deputy Prosecutor tells us the charge stems from sexual misconduct with a student between the 2009 and 2010 school year.

When the investigation started in January, we didn't release Green's name because charges hadn't been filed yet. But band students at Bryant High were well aware of the investigation.

"It was a shock for me at first but then I got to realize how common these things could be," junior Toby Cox told us in January, 2012.

We tried to ask Green about the charges tonight but no one answered at his door, his phone or his attorney's number. When we spoke to Green's attorney in January, he maintained his client's innocence.

"We deny that there is any wrong doing what so ever," said Bill James, Green's attorney, January 2012.

But on October 16th, prosecutors filed charges and Saline County Sheriff's Deputies arrested Green on the 31st.

The school district won't speak on his employment status or answer any other questions tonight giving us the statement "By law, since this is a personnel matter, we are not at liberty to speak about it."

The media needs to adopt a policy that they need to do 10 stories on all the teachers doing it right for every one of these. Only a very small amount of teachers ever get caught up in this kind of activity, but this is all we ever hear about. Come on media; tell of the many good things going on. The band programs at Bryant have many success stories and instead of spending all your time on this, let’s print some good news along with it.

I kind of wonder about this story. It took them long enough to "investigate" and file charges. Like I said, the accusations may be false; you can't predict kids on drugs anymore, and we all know kids have falsely accused teachers before because they were upset by the teacher for one reason or another.

Ok Bryant....You spend TONS of money on these schools YET you can't find teachers that can keep their hands to themselves? I am so glad my children don't attend Bryant schools! So many WASTED tax dollars! Spend some of that money monitoring your teachers and students more closely...you might also consider spending some money on pregnancy prevention within the high school as well!

From personal experience about a druggie's point of view sounds possible Yank. Wish I could go back to living by a couple of the old sayings I learned from some old friend way south of here. It's hard to tell how many lay in a fresh grave and the best way to hurt some one is to find what they love and destroy it. No under age inmates in prison. Could fit.

Well, seeing as he was arrested AFTER the investigation tends to lead one the think that there is something here. Innocent until proven guilty just like on the first 48, but they dont arrest people on this kind of charge because they feel like it.

I had Mr Green as my band director for several years. He always conducted himself in a professional manner, especially after what happened with Me Bresnahan in the 06/07 school year. From what has been circulated, this kid had failed drug test and these allegations may be completely retaliatory. Will not believe this until there is hard evidence to prove it.
