LITTLE ROCK, AR – Free oral, head and neck cancer screenings are being offered by the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) in Little Rock on Friday.
They're taking place on the sixth floor of the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Walk-ins are welcome, but may require a short wait. If you'd rather make an appointment, call (501) 526-7126 between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. through Thursday.
There will be free parking in UAMS Parking 3 at Cedar Street & Capitol Avenue.
The UAMS Department of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery will conduct the screenings.
People who smoke, chew tobacco or consume alcohol, as well as those who have previously had cancer in the area are considered at highest risk for developing oral, head and neck cancer.
Sores in the mouth that do not go away, a growth or swelling in the neck, persistent sore throat, trouble swallowing or voice changes, are among the signs and symptoms.
