ya there are too many laws but a leash law makes sense b/c YOUR dog is out bothering other people and other people's animals. ARKYankee, I didn't know pulaski county had a leash law. I live just on the Saline/pulaski line(pulaski side) and dogs are out there all of the time. I keep my dog(and cats) in my yard regardless if there's a leash law or not but I'm very sick of other people's dogs messing in my yard for me to clean up. I can't even leave my door open without someone's dog running in my house, it's just crazy.. I'm all for leash laws, if you have animals, you need to control them!

I love dogs myself. We have a female sheppard/beagle mix. She is a house dog. She is also our "alarm" system. I handle "security" after the "alarm" goes off. I too keep ours under control so as not to bother the neighbors. They on the other hand have two running wild. Until they come on my property and bother my cat's anyway. One came at me once when I was checking my mailbox. Guess he figured he was "barking up the wrong tree"; he stopped in time, and went back into his yard. They also run across the road in front of me when I'm on the bike. Going to write a nice anonymous letter asking them to conform to Pulaski's leash law; they have a fenced in back yard. If that doesn't work, I'll call Animal Control. Rather them handle it than me having to shoot one. Don't like shooting animals, unless they are bothering mine, or me. ( Except for copperheads. ) They just plain ain't allowed here, regardless of what the law says.

I just got one. Read the news. A man will think twice before messing around my place. I hate guns. So it's the next best thing. To the devil with anyone that don't like them. A man has a right to protect his family. I have enough respect for my neighbors to keep mine under control. The rest better run fast.

Leash laws are needed. Yes, pit's have a bad rap; but other dogs can be just as vicious. Four and a half years as a Letter Carrier in Tucson; I learned any dog can be mean! And I've had mean dogs also. So yes, go for the leash law! Nuisance laws are too broad, can be easily fought; and who determines if the dog is a nuisance? There will always be differences of opinion in "nuisance" situations. Leash laws remove this quandary.

The problem is Pit bull dogs. They have a deserved bad reputation. If there is a new law needed why don't we just ban the breed inside the city. The best approach would be to enforce the laws we do have on the books.
