GARLAND COUNTY, AR – Officials from the Garland County Sheriff’s Department say a woman was reportedly attacked and almost raped while walking her dog Monday evening.

The victim, 18, told deputies that she was walking her dog at the corner of Keith Drive and Bayside Road between 8:30 and 9:00 pm on May 28, when an unknown man jumped up from a grassy area, pushed her on the ground and got on top of her. The victim told police that the suspect told her to “shut up” as he attempted to pull at her shorts.

Police say the victim reported that the suspect smelled heavily of alcohol and appeared to be heavily intoxicated, so she was able to fight him off and run home. When the victim and her mother returned to the scene, the suspect was gone. Deputies responded and searched the area, but were unable to find the suspect. The victim was taken to Mercy Hospital in Hot Springs where she was treated for minor injuries.

The suspect is described as a man in his 30s, about 6”0 tall and weighing around 170 pounds with a slender build, medium length blond hair and a full beard. He was reportedly wearing blue jeans, a dark colored shirt and brown shoes.

Anyone with any information on this suspect is asked to call investigators at 622-3690 or 622-3674.

it was probably one of those little froo froo dogs that sat there and just yapped the whole time..Anyway, glad she got away. The description of the man seemed like one of the "occupiers"..

When she said he jumped from a grass area, it leads me to think she, or other women, frequent this locale for walking. Its a shame she couldnt get the dog to tear him a new one.
