HOT SPRINGS, AR – Deputies with the Garland County Sheriff’s Department arrested a 27-year-old man on suspicion he and a 14-year-old girl traded sexually explicit texts and pictures in October.
The word “victim” scatters the police report on Jesse Dunn, or, as police say he’s called in the victim’s phone, “Dirty Secret.” No names, because the victim is just 14 years-old.
According to the arrest report, the victim’s father brought her phone to the sheriff’s department. Deputies say they discovered the victim and Dunn sent 217 text messages back and forth during a 31 hour period starting October 12th. They say during that time the victim sent naked pictures of herself to Dunn and Dunn sent a naked picture of himself to the victim.
"Describing acts that he wanted performed and that he wanted to perform - very explicit," said Lt. James Martin with the Garland County Sheriff’s Department,
Investigators say there are conversations about sneaking the 14-year-old out and asking for and receiving naked pictures of her.
"Unfortunately it is going on more and more," said Lt. Martin.
Investigators say, although common, cases like this are hard to prove because there's no telling who could be sending and receiving the messages. But they add – this case is different.
"There's a pretty substantial amount of evidence that links him to the phones, to the messages, just with some of the stuff he said," said Lt. Martin.
The report shows Dunn is a family friend but Lt. Martin says we could see more underage victims come forward as the investigation continues.
"Still looking to see if anything else has gone on - maybe with somebody else," he said.
Dunn is charged with Internet Stalking of a Child and Computer Child Pornography.
Security experts say parents should keep their child’s phone with them when the go to sleep. Most of the messages happen late at night or early in the morning.
Try to monitor what’s being sent, and make sure you also have access to your child’s Facebook account.
