Gas line rupture causes traffic delays in Chicot County

CHICOT COUNTY – A portion of Highway 82 was closed for awhile Saturday when a gas line was ruptured, FOX16 has learned.

According to Chicot County OEM Mike Morgan, a portion of Highway 82 from the Highway 65 junction to Levee Road was closed when a farmer ran over a 6 inch gas line with a tractor.

Centerpoint Energy responded to make repairs to the broken line, and large fans were placed in the area to dissipate the gas.

The highway later reopened to traffic.
