LITTLE ROCK, AR -- With enthusiasm and courage, gay rights activists look for fairness in their community.
This is the ninth year for the Conway Gay Pride parade, with people coming for various reasons.
"We have seen a lot of changes in the last half decade or so, and I am very proud to be part of those changes," said planner John Schenck.
Planners say usually protesters show up, but not this year though. They say as each year passes, another step forward is taken legalizing gay marriage.
"We want to be able to get married and have a wedding like everybody else," said supporter Heather Henderson.
Supporters say they are optimistic now more than ever.
"This year alone, don't ask don't tell is out the window. And two sundays ago, the NAACP came out in favor of gay marriage. That's one heck of a step," said Schenck.
