LITTLE ROCK, AR – Governor Beebe declared a state of emergency in Arkansas Friday due to the severe drought. The governor’s office says the declaration will help with the transport of hay to ranchers who have low supplies of feed.

The declaration authorizes special permits for round bales of hay to be transported on controlled highways, provided they are less than 12 feet in width.

The state of emergency will be in effect for 30 days.

We can only hope and pray that the hurricane Ernesto will bring some well needed rain our way. But that will still be a week or so away. If it hits Southern Louisiana I know it will bring about 27 house guest to my home, me being a coonass and all.
