LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - A federal grand jury has indicted an Arkansas doctor on a charge accusing him of possessing unregistered military grenades, but not for having a weapon cache of more than 100 machine guns.
U.S. Attorney Jane Duke announced the indictment Wednesday against Dr. Randeep Mann, 50, of London in Pope County, near Russellville. Mann faces a single felony count over the grenades that carries up to a 10-year prison sentence and a $10,000 fine.
Mann was arrested in March after city workers discovered a trash bag in the woods containing high-explosive grenades designed to be fired from a rifle-mounted launcher. ATF agents initially said Mann, a licensed dealer of machine guns, also had unregistered rifles in his home.
In a statement, Duke only said that investigators continue to examine the rifles. Mann remains held without bond.
