GRANT COUNTY, AR -- Sheriff Ray Vance is seeking a second term as Grant County's top law enforcement officer.  But his opponent Tim Green says voters may not know everything about Vance.

"My goal is for the citizens of Grant County to understand who they have in office right now and why he doesn't deserve to be in office," Green said.

Green points to the results of an investigation by the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks.  Back in 2010, Vance admitted to special agents he switched his drivers license from Arkansas to Kansas so he could get a lifetime hunting license.  Even though he lives in Sheridan, Vance said he didn't see it as a problem because he owns a home in "The Sunflower State."

"It was a misunderstanding. There was no intent to defraud or to do anything wrong. I thought I was well within my rights," Sheriff Vance said.

Vance paid over $13,000 in court costs and restitution and considered this case closed.

He said he's taking the high road in this election, citing his accomplishments in decreasing crime each year while in office.

Green maintains Vance has deceived voters and vows he's the clear choice.

"You are supposed to be professional. You are supposed to be held at a higher standard than anybody else," Green said.

Vance says he had no intent on deception then why does he continue to deceive the residents of Grant Co. Then telling residents that Joshua Davidson the convicted felon he bailed out of jail is his boy taking this convicted felon to live in his guesthouse. When our home was burglarize in January of this year he sure did not offer out of his big Christian heart as he quoted to the Sheridan Headlight, to come and help me replace my door facing to keep out the cold air or replace anything for my 11 yr old son, or even offer him a kind word. As a matter of a fact he did not even send an officer to my home for five days after theburglary and that was only after Mr. Davidson, unlike sheriff Vance did admitguilt to his crimes he had committed. Then he instructed Davidson to call me and ask me to contact my mother whoms house he was also convicted of criminal mischief for to ask her for any belongings he Davidson left at her residents when he was arrested, so candidate Green did not start the mud slinging Vance brought it on himself when he told the newspaper in Sheridan I quote I sure did bail out the kid well the kid is my 25 yr old nephew I love dearly but sometimes you are forced to show tough love he screwed up and has to pay for it and so should sheriff vance he should resign because he got caught committing felonies too he just took the high road as he says and took a misdemeanor plea bargain where Davidson just flat confessed that he was wrong. If he is such a great christian man basing his campaign on helping kids why is helping convicted felons out of jail and did care about my 11 yr old KID he could have used some support and help when our belongings and home were destroyed, but he did not even get his investigaters to photograph out damage until Friday after the burglary took place on Monday and I took him to the sheriff myself on Wed. And at that timehe wrote a full confession to his crimes. Green did not contact the paper they called him.
