LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — An animal rights group is offering a reward of up to $5,000 to help find the person who killed a cat that belonged to the family of a congressional candidate's campaign manager.
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals announced the reward on Tuesday.
Jacob Burris says he found the cat on the porch of his Russellville home Sunday morning. Burris said one side of the cat's head had been bashed in, and the word "liberal" was painted on its corpse. Police have said they don't have a suspect in the case.
Burris manages the congressional campaign of Democrat Ken Aden.
PETA officials say other animals in the area might be in danger, and they are encouraging anyone who might have information about the killing to contact Russellville police.
